TITLE : Auger experiment
ABSTRACT :
The Auger Observatory, when finished, will be the largest cosmic ray detecor in the world, and the only one using the hybrid technique where a giant ground array (3000 km^2 per site) will be combined with a set of fluoresence telescopes. The Southern site is now under construction in Argentina. A prototype sub-detector of 60 km^2 with two telescopes is expected to be operational by July 2001. The full detector should be constructed by the end of 2003. A Northern site will soon be submitted for approval. The solution of the UHECR puzzle will hopefully be the outcome within a few years.
